TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Non-profits from across the country are stepping up to help with hurricane recovery.
It's been a big task and now, some of those non-profits are getting a little help as well. Community Foundation of North Florida has more than half a million dollars to give to non profits helping with hurricane relief.
Money from the Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Michael Recovery Efforts will go to non-profits that have been working to help the communities impacted by Hurricane Michael bounce back.
Before the foundation can give out any money, it is collecting collecting surveys from people who are working closely with hurricane relief.
"A lot of organization are served by non profits based out of Leon County but also across the country, but surveying those communities," said Laura Harwin, the director of the Non-Profit Relations Community Foundation of North Florida. "We want to make sure that those dollars that we have to grant out make an impact and benefit the people affected by the storm."
The group is looking to complete the survey by the end of the summer and then distribute that grant money later this year.
